There isn't a single person that I know that demonstrates competent communication. Everyone that I know is a work in progress. There are things that people in my inner circle do as part of their progress, but when reviewing the assignment no particular person came to mind.
Hello Haleema!
ReplyDeleteI agree that we all have to constantly work on are communication with others because no one is perfect. I believe that as educators it is important to learn which communication techniques are effective when working with diverse individuals. Thanks for sharing!
Haleema,
ReplyDeleteThis week, we learned that "competent, successful communicators adjust their behavior to suit particular individuals and situations" (O'Hair et al., 2015, p. 14). This is a skill that does not occur overnight or naturally, it is something that is taught, acquired, and developed over time. When working with diverse populations- children, families, and peers, we are constantly learning to adjust our behaviors, modes of communications, and overall communication to meet the needs of others based on the situation and environment.
Wishing you well,
Donna

Haleema,
ReplyDeleteI also know several individuals, including myself who are striving to achieve a common goal and that is to voice our wants, needs, concerns, etc. in a sociably, effective manner. While this is a true-- many of us fall short. I am excited to learn more about this topic because communicating is key to delivering and receiving information.
Thanks for sharing.

Haleema,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that it is hard to find great communicators. I think more difficult is to find honest communicators with ethics. I am excited to learn about how to be an effective communicator.
